Computer Science Ph.D. Student
Hello!
I am Navid Seidi, currently immersing myself in the world of Computer Science as a Ph.D. student at Missouri University of Science and Technology. My focus areas are Survival Analysis, Smart Health, Machine Learning, and Neural Networks. My journey in the health industry has spanned over 12 years, during which I’ve had the opportunity to work as an EHR/EMR software developer, a Health Informatics Expert, and an IT manager. This experience has given me practical insights into the workings of Health Informatics.
I have been fortunate to contribute to the development of SmarTreatMate, a digital health platform that aims to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients through personalized treatment recommendations. My academic journey has also allowed me to engage with students as a teacher, and I’ve enjoyed the process of learning and growing together. I’ve also had the privilege of taking on several freelance software development projects. My most rewarding experiences have been those where I’ve served as a bridge between healthcare providers and technical teams, helping to transform their needs into viable technical solutions.
IEEE Website Link Presentation File Abstract: The popularity of urban lifestyle, the ”Smart City” (SC) concept seems to be the only sustainable solution. SC is a logical compromise between quality-of-life and green environment. While one cannot find a universal definition, we propose a somewhat new architecture for SC in the form of entities laying over each other and delivering services from bottom up. In this work, we focus on the Smart Service entity and introduce a service which circumvents distance and time limitations targeting one-to-one and in-person visitations. This service is in line with the quality-of-life and green environment compromise. As a specific case, we focus on visitations for hospitalized patients.
IEEE Website Link Presentation File Abstract: Organizations providing services to public, generally comprise three representative entities, staff, events, and processes. Since these entities involve in not-necessarily time-wise predictable phenomena, service delivery in such organizations is inherently fluid, particularly in specific-staff dependent service providers or organizations. To provide service receivers (clients) with satisfactory experience, keeping them informed regarding service parameters is of great importance. While traditional information systems serve an organization internally, systems that provide such information for clients (external to the or- ganization), too, prove to be useful regarding service experience. Information by its nature can be divided into static and dynamic. Static information are less exposed to changes while dynamic information are more volatile. There might be situations where, in a specific organization, dynamic information override static information for a specific period of time. Dissemination methods for static and dynamic information are different. Thanks to ubiquitous and pervasive computing, advancements in commu- nication technologies, and accessibility of processing power, the concept of real-time information systems, once unimaginable, has become a reality today. Focusing on dynamic information, and in particular last-minute change information, in this paper, we devise and present an implementation of VID system which is a new distributed information dissemination/update system for specific-staff dependent service providers or organizations such as educational institutions where events are very much dependent on specific people’s presence.
